The Gym

Farnworth Leisure Centre boasts a 32 station gym, fully air conditioned and featuring state of the art equipment. Choose from cardio vascular (great for your heart and lungs), resistance equipment (great for toning the body) and a free weights area.

Whether your goal is to lose weight, look good or feel great our team of fully qualified fitness instructors are on hand to help you get the most from your workout sessions. Begin your fitness journey with an induction. A member of the gym team will ensure you are aware of how to get the most from your workout – safely.
 


 

Inductions

New to the Gym?  Kick start your fitness journey with an induction.  The fully qualified fitness team will take you through how to use the equipment safely and effectively and will create a personal fitness programme just for you!

New Member?

Step 1

  • Your introduction to the cardiovascular equipment.

Step 2

  • Your introduction to the resistance equipment
  • Receive your bespoke training programme

Step 3

  • Your first fitness review (after one week)

Step 4

  • A review of your bespoke training programme (after one month)
  • Set new goals

Non-Member?

Step 1

  • Your introduction to the cardiovascular equipment

Step 2

  • Your introduction to the resistance equipment
  • Receive your bespoke fitness programme

 


Experienced?

If you have been to a gym before and are familiar with how to use the equipment and are comfortable setting your own training programme, a member of the fitness team will simply check that you know how to use the equipment safely and assess if a more in-depth induction is required.
 


 

Gym Etiquette

We understand that going to the gym or to a workout class for the first time can sometimes seem a little daunting, View the following Gym Etiquette to help you prepare for that all important first visit.

  • All users of the gym are required to complete an induction and a PAR-Q medical questionnaire.  
  • All personal belongings are to be stored in the lockers provided.
  • Appropriate clothing and footwear for the activity must be worn.
  • Before commencing your workout, please remember to sign in.
  • If you are unsure how to use a piece of equipment, ask an instructor for help.
  • Bring a towel with you on each visit and wipe down equipment after use.
  • At peak times, use may be limited to 15 minutes per piece of equipment. This is at the
    discretion of an instructor, but please be considerate to other users.
  • Remember to bring water with you and drink regularly before, during and after your
    workout to avoid dehydration.


 


 

Personal Training

Need a little bit more motivation and support to achieve that all important goal? Qualified Instructors and Personal Trainers are on hand to help. The personal trainers will help prepare a unique workout and nutrition programme specifically for you. Your one-to-one training sessions will keep you on track ensuring you hit your targets.
