Phase IV Cardiac Rehab

Phase IV Cardiac Rehab is the final stage of a person's rehabilitation following a cardiac event e.g. heart attack, heart bypass, heart valve replacement.

The scheme last 12 weeks and is free of charge (except for a £4 admin fee), sessions are offered at the following leisure centres:

· Farnworth
· Leverhulme
· Horwich
· Excel

Over the 12 week period participants are introduced to an exercise programme in the fitness suite, as well of having the option of attending a circuit based class. During this time they will learn how to exercise safely, and effectively, by fully qualified cardiac rehab fitness instructors.

After 12 weeks participants are discharged from the scheme and encouraged to continue with their exercise regime; by becoming a member of the leisure centre they have been exercising in. It is very important that they continue with their exercise, in order to gain protective benefits which will reduce the risk of them suffering another cardiac event.
