Bolton Community Leisure launches free swimming lessons!

Bolton Community Leisure Trust has launching an initiative to provide free lessons for six weeks to 3200 adult residents across the Borough. The initiative is a partnership between the Trust, The Amateur Swimming Association, Bolton Council and Bolton Primary Care Trust. The project aims to provide six one-hour lessons for non-swimmers or weak swimmers to improve their water confidence.

To qualify all you have to be is:

• A Bolton resident
• An adult aged 16-99
• A non-swimmer or weak swimmer
• Available to complete six one-hour adults only lessons at one of Bolton’s six swimming pools.

The six swimming pools in Bolton have allocated over 200 hours of lane space from 7am-10pm Monday to Sunday to provide a range of times to suit all preferences.  But places are strictly on a first-come, first-served basis. Holiday Activities

This Easter, Farnworth Leisure Centre has a range of fun, interactive and entertaining activities including Wave Raves, Junior Gym sessions, Intensive swimming lessons, Parent and Tots swims, Rookie Lifeguard course and Snorkeling classes!  Activities are primarily for children from the age of 8 years onwards, however there is lots of opportunity to spend quality family time in the pool when children under the age of 8 years old are accompanied by a Parent (or Guardian). Parent & Tots Swimming Lessons

New!   Parent and Tots swimming lessons, new course will be starting from January 2010, the classes are suitable for children aged from 4 months through to 3 years. The course consists of a 3/4hrs lesson each week for a 10 week period. Parental involvement required with a qualified instructor to demonstrate and instruct methods in holding & moving with baby, dealing with tears and fears, building water confidence, improving independent movement, submerging in water confidently, floating traveling on front and back. Free Swimming

From January 2010 if you are 16 years and under you can access free swimming during public swim hours at Farnworth Leisure Centre. Please note that our under 8’s swim policy applies – details available at reception.

Free swimming is also available to residents of Bolton who are 60 years old and over and you will simply need to register for a Bolton Smart Card prior to your visit to the leisure facility. If you do not hold a Bolton Smart card, you will need to apply for a card at the One Stop Shop in Bolton Town Hall.
